Tell us about the background of David Sutherland and how the Dallas Design District showroom came to be.
After a stint at EC Dicken, David Sutherland decided to open his own showroom in Houston in 1978, followed by Dallas in 1979. Having worked with EC Dicken in the Dallas Design Center, it was a natural choice for David to open his own space.

What do you all enjoy most about having a showroom in the Dallas Design District neighborhood?
The sense of a close-knit community with surrounding showrooms and design offices.

What can visitors expect when they visit David Sutherland’s DDD showroom?
Exceptional customer service, great design, and the possibility of finding a one-of-a-kind piece within our carefully curated collections.

In your opinion, what sets David Sutherland apart from other local + national interior design showrooms?
David Sutherland is truly an expert curator. He has a wonderful eye for forecasting the next great artist or designer. This reveals itself in our Rolodex of lines and offerings.

If you had to describe the David Sutherland style in one word, what would it be and why?
Timeless. David does not operate according to here-and-gone trends. We curate collections that clients will love for decades.

Tell us about some of your favorite trends, styles, and/or pieces for Summer 2022.
Right now, clients are loving our collections with Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen, who designs understated elegant pieces with a sense of warmth. Perennials Fabrics and Rugs debuted a sophisticated collection with Van Duysen for Fall 2021, and then Sutherland Furniture introduced Franck modular pieces this spring, both available to view in the showroom.
