Design Events: Fall 2020

So far, this year has been rife with obstacles. However, nothing can quite alleviate our city’s appetite for celebrating excellence in design. September has historically been the start of the Dallas social season, and you can rest assured that this year will be no different, the gatherings themselves may just look and operate a bit differently. Read on for a list of must-attend design events taking place this Fall, all of which will be socially distanced with proper protocols in place.

Dwell with Dignity’s Thrift Studio Pop-Up Shop

First up we must mention the iconic annual pop-up shop fundraiser that is currently open inside the International on Turtle Creek. Through September 26, pop in to shop the stunning vignettes, all created by local designers, showrooms, and retailers. Similar to years past, each beautifully designed space features high-end furniture, housewares, and accessories, all offered at significantly discounted prices. And, best of all, of course, if that one hundred percent of your purchase directly benefits Dwell with Dignity’s mission to provide inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty.

Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas

We can't imagine it's not already known by all design enthusiasts by now, but Kips Bay Decorator Show House has set its sights on Big-D, and we couldn't be more thrilled. From September 25-October 25, a selection of the country’s greatest designers will come together to carefully curate the different rooms throughout a luxurious home in Old Preston Hollow’s Historic Woodland Estates neighborhood. Located approximately eight miles north of downtown Dallas, the nearly 12,000-square foot home will highlight the latest in home design + trends, and all for a good cause, seeing as proceeds will support both Dwell with Dignity and the Crystal Charity Ball. Start planning your visit to the inaugural Kips Bay Dallas here.

PaperCity Dallas Design Awards
If you're familiar with Texas Design Week, you know that the PaperCity Dallas Design Awards is typically the premier event of the week. This year, however, with the unfortunate yet necessary postponement of Texas Design Week, that may not be the case, but fear not — the awards will go on! While there will not be a live presentation of awards to celebrate + honor the very best in design, entries are still being accepted and winners will still be named. Winning projects will not only be published on the PaperCity website this December, but they'll also score a placement in the January 2021 issue of PaperCity Dallas magazine. The portal to submit projects is open through November 2, so get going and start submitting here!

Inspire! 2020
Last but most certainly not least, coming up October 27-October 29 is the 13th annual Inspire 2020. What we love so much about this annual event is how it allows for design industry pros to hone in on their skills in interior design while simultaneously gaining continuing education credits. The courses, which will take place at various locations throughout the Dallas Design District, are geared toward residential interior design and meet the continuing education requirements for Texas Registered Interior Designers. Registration will open for Inspire 2020 at the end of September, and you can learn more about the in-person event and its participating speakers and showrooms here.

Each of the above-mentioned happenings provides an opportunity to enjoy design excellence + walk away with all new ideas and inspiration for ways to fill your home with the latest and greatest in furniture, accessories, and decor. Furthermore, each of these can't-miss events will be doing everything they can to ensure your safety. So, pull out your planners, mark down the dates, and we’ll look forward to seeing you soon!
