It’s hard to believe that it’s been 8 great years since GRACIE opened its doors in the Dallas Design District. And it’s no secret that since opening, they’ve made a tremendous impact not only on our District but on the Dallas design industry as a whole. Tell us about the background of GRACIE and how the Dallas Design District showroom came to be.
Gracie was founded in 1898 by Charles R Gracie in New York. He began the business by selling Asian antiques and importing handpainted Chinese wallpapers in the 1920s. Our early clientele included design greats William Haines, Dorothy Draper, and Elsie De Wolfe. Gracie is now run by 4th-generation siblings Mike and Jennifer Gracie. Dallas became our second market in the early 1970s with representative showrooms. In 2013, we decided to open a dedicated showroom in the Dallas Design Center. This month, we are celebrating 8 years with a Gracie showroom in the Dallas Design District.
What do you all enjoy most about having a showroom in the Dallas Design District neighborhood?
Being a part of the Dallas Design District means that we may provide personal service for our Texas clientele. Working with sophisticated design consumers, it is important that our sales staff can closely connect with them throughout our entire process; something easily achieved in such a central and well-known location. We also enjoy being neighbors with the top names in the interior design industry represented here in the District.
What can visitors expect when they visit GRACIE’s DDD showroom?
Visitors to Gracie can expect to see a wide array of our wallpaper designs and antiques displayed accompanied by unparalleled service from our staff. They can trust us to work with them to create beautiful and unique wallpapers for their clients' projects.
