ROLE SUMMARY:
Opening this Fall, Delilah Dallas is seeking a Sommelier to support and elevate the guest experience through expert knowledge of wine and the overall beverage program. Working closely with the Lead Sommelier and Wine Director, you will assist in guiding guests through the wine list, offering thoughtful recommendations, and ensuring service is warm, professional, and aligned with the restaurant’s standards. Responsibilities include assisting with inventory management, stocking, and maintaining accuracy within the POS system. The ideal candidate is service-minded, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality, with a strong interest in wine and a willingness to learn.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain complete knowledge of wine list, and wine and food pairings.
- Clean equipment, tools, and supplies for wine service and ensure equipment is in good working order, including cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance.
- Maintain and update cellar/storage inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock.
- Meet regularly with the wine trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program as well as evaluate wines and other beverages for potential purchase.
- Eliminate waste by training and supervising employees on wine knowledge, pour levels, proper storage, etc.
- Verify accuracy of wine delivery ordered and received from the main warehouse and return or exchange deliveries when a warehouse error has occurred.
- Maintain appropriate beverage costs by managing purchases and requisitions.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Certified accreditation from a recognized organization (Court of Master Sommelier / WSET) preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in high volume, elevated dining restaurant.
- Must have Food Handler’s Certification.
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be detail oriented and possess effective communication and written skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must be a team player.
- Self-motivated and performance driven.
- Professional and courteous.
- Remain in stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout the work shift.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
- Effective communication, written and interpersonal skills.
