Read on to learn all about the not one but two flagship branded showrooms, Molteni&C | DADA and Baxter, that both reside under the Abitare 18 roof.
Tell us about the background of Abitare 18 and how the Dallas Design District showroom came to be.
Abitare 18’s owner and CEO, David Levy, had always been interested in the Dallas market and recently got the opportunity to partner with two Italian manufacturers, Molteni&C | DADA, and Baxter of Italy, to open side-by-side flagship showrooms for the brands. After months of searching for the perfect location for the new showroom, Mr. Levy felt like the Dallas Decorative Center would be the best fit to fulfill his vision. The showroom was completely redone from top to bottom in what is now an unrecognizable transformation from its previous tenant.
What do you enjoy most about having a showroom in the Dallas Design District neighborhood?
The Design District attracts the best Designers from Texas, surrounding states, and internationally. It is widely known to be one of, if not the best places to shop for home furnishings in the United States. It is hard to compare another “Design District” to the one here in Dallas, we have an enormous amount of resources within a small area that makes it very easy for customers to effectively use their time efficiently, and show their customers the best of the best in a short period of time.
With the recent addition of the Virgin Hotel and some of the hottest new restaurants in Dallas, the Design District has become even more attractive and is a perfect place to do some window shopping after enjoying a meal in the surrounding restaurants. With close proximity to Downtown, Uptown, Victory Park, Highland Park, and the local airports, it is an easy stop for locals and tourists alike.
What can visitors expect when they visit the Abitare 18 showroom?
Tucked into the back Southeast corner of the Decorative Center under a large tree, Suite #460 is an unassuming home full of surprises. The space features two side-by-side flagship branded showrooms. When entering through the primary entrance to the Molteni&C | DADA entrance the first complete living area opens up to a 6,500 square foot showroom full of awe-inspiring rooms exquisitely adorned with furnishings, rugs, kitchens, closets, and wall systems. The rooms have been painstakingly designed by Vincent Van Duysen, the creative director for the brand. Three complete living areas with live kitchens are accompanied by a master suite and closet where no expense has been spared.
An integrated secondary interior entrance leads you into the Baxter flagship showroom where the curved walls and a multi-faceted branded area treats its visitors to a vast array of finely finished case goods, lighting, and Baxter’s specialty, leather upholstered furniture.
In your opinion, what sets Abitare 18 apart from other local and national luxury furniture showrooms?
The showroom presents itself as a luxury living environment, where the bar has been set very high. Molteni&C | DADA’s signature look can only be duplicated by their fellow Flagship showrooms, Vincent Van Duysen has created such a complete and unique experience, that it is hard to compete with. The space will make even the most hardened skeptic of European contemporary furniture and living think twice about how warm and inviting the contemporary Italian style of living can be.
If you had to describe the Abitare 18 style in one word, what would it be and why?
Luxury! Because “Luxury Lifestyle” is Abitare18’s Motto!
