Dallas, TX | Laura Rathe Fine Art announces Flow States, an exhibition featuring new works by Lucrecia Waggoner and Meredith Pardue. LRFA will be hosting the opening reception on Saturday, October 7th from 5:00-8:00pm at their Dallas Design District gallery. Both artists will be in attendance.

Flow States examines the transformative qualities of nature and its impact on two artists’ practices. Meredith Pardue and Lucrecia Waggoner each carry deep reverence for the earth and their unique methods demonstrate how similar influences can manifest in vastly different outcomes.

At the crux of Meredith Pardue’s artistic expression lies a strong connection with nature and the desire to mirror the beauty of the natural world. Each painting develops as an “unplanned conversation” until the canvas overflows with layers of texture and color. From here, the composition is tempered into her signature biomorphic forms, the final harmony molded from its raw beginnings. Through improvised exchanges between artist and material, Pardue channels the chaos of the unknown into tactile masses of color, evocative of coral, stones, or untamed fauna.

Lucrecia Waggoner, born and raised in Mexico City, spent her childhood between the crystalline beaches of Acapulco and the verdant forests of the Yucatan, imbuing her practice with traces of the earth from concept to installation. Each hand-thrown porcelain vessel plays a unique part in a complex whole, merging into a constellation of texture and color and unifying the space in Waggoner’s charted vision. Like a rushing river or gust of wind, the compositions cannot be relegated to a single mode of expression as they embody delicate rays of gilded sun and portals into unknown worlds.

Flow States will be on display through November 4th, 2023.
