Decorate with Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year: Very Peri

For those who are newer around here, every year Pantone chooses a Color of the Year, and every year we dish on how best to incorporate the chosen color into your home. For 2022, Pantone's selection is Very Peri, a periwinkle blue hue with violet-red undertones that are meant to encourage personal inventiveness + creativity in the new year. And, even more notably, for the first time in the history of the Pantone Color of the Year, Very Peri was created specifically for the color program to reflect the transition taking place in our global culture. Now, as promised, here are our tips on how to work this innovative color into your space.

Fine Art

It's no secret that the Dallas Design District is an epicenter of the gallery scene in the DFW Metroplex and is therefore home to many must-see works of art. From historic paintings to contemporary sculptures, there's really nothing you cannot source from one of our many art galleries. For the contemporary art aficionado, ALG Collective (pictured piece is by ALG Collective resident artist Melissa Ellis) and Galleri Urbane are both home to a variety of innovative and non-traditional pieces that feature Very Peri. Whether it's acrylic wall pieces or paintings on canvas, you're sure to find something special. For those who gravitate more towards traditional art, take a trip to Christopher Martin Gallery or Laura Rathe Fine Art where you'll find a plethora of sculptures, wall art, and photography, all of which beautifully encompasses the 2022 color of the year.

Floors + Furnishings

Decorating with art pieces that incorporate the color of the year will absolutely add invigoration to any space. However, if you prefer to go bigger and bolder with Very Peri, consider fusing it into your floors or furnishings. Fortunately, the DDD has a number of namesake interior design showrooms that can help you do just that. For handmade rugs or inspired floor designs, call on The Rug Company (pictured) or Abrash Rugs. Both offer antique, modern, and custom pieces that create a major wow factor. For fab furniture finds, both Baker Furniture and Scott + Cooner boast pieces known for their design excellence and uncompromising quality.

Tiles + Textiles

For floor-to-ceiling fun, flirt with the idea of throwing Very Peri into your tilework or textiles. When it comes to tiles, our friends at AMARA Stone & Tile Boutique are some of the best tile remodelers in town. Not to mention their extraordinary collections, suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Another must-mention in the tile department is Ann Sacks. Should you have a deep appreciation for artistry + craftsmanship, Ann Sacks is the showroom for you. Not only do they offer the highest-quality materials but they're also known for their stunning styles ranging from Terra Cotta to Concrete to Ceramic. In terms of textiles, you're in the greatest of hands at pretty much any fabric-focused DDD showroom, like Kravet, Samuel & Sons, or Schumacher (pictured) to name a few. At each of the aforementioned showrooms, expect to find a vast array of readily made fabrics and trimmings,  as well as exclusive and custom-made selections

Accents + Accessories

Should you abide by the "less is more" philosophy, there are plenty of ways to still add subtle dashes of color throughout your space in the form of accents and accessories.  For lighting, upholstery case goods, and luxury decor, look to either Allan Knight & Associates or Bungalow 5 as both are known for their classically chic pieces. Alternatively, if more stand-out, less conventional decor sparks your fancy, find your way to Scout Design Studio (pictured) or Made Goods where you’ll find unique statement pieces that double as conversation starters, especially when they're in the Very Peri hue.

Eager to have this spritely dynamic color presence on display in your living space? Lucky for you, all of the shops, showrooms, and galleries in the Dallas Design District are ready and willing to assist. And finally, on behalf of the entire DDD family, we wish the happiest New Year to you and yours!
