There are some things that are just infinitely more enjoyable once the seasons begin to turn before the leaves start falling and after the triple digits have passed. Here we've outlined a few Dallas Design District activities you should check out before October arrives.
Enjoy Al Fresco Dining
Lounge on the porch at Oak, PakPao Thai Food or Ascension Coffee. All three restaurants offer optimal people watching and a nice breeze while you enjoy your Chilled Melon Gazpacho, Short Rib with Massaman Curry or Soppressata and Fig Panini, depending on which establishment you choose.
Tour a Brewery
The Dallas Design District has not one but two breweries offering tours and tastings: Texas Ale Project and Community Beer Company. The latter has a unique tradition of partnering with a different local charity each month to raise money for a good cause. In August, Community Beer Co. is supporting Ales for ALS and donating proceeds from its mango IPA to fund ALS research. On Saturdays, the brewery also hosts a Community Beer Company Saturday Open House & Tour from 2 to 5PM. Each $10 ticket can be redeemed for three pints. The event also includes work from local artists, live music and food trucks. Bonus? Families and pets are welcome. Texas Ale Project is hosting a Paint Party from 7 to 9PM August 25 for $26 a person. You can unleash your artistic side while enjoying a cold brew or two. Afterward, bring your masterpiece home with you. Texas Ale Project's free brewery tours are every Saturday at 2 and 3PM. Again, dogs and families are welcome.
Stop by an Art Exhibit
Through August 27, LuminArte Fine Art Gallery is hosting the New Horizons exhibit featuring Gina Rossi, Motte Thomas, Mark Bueno, Scott Eakin, Leanne Venier and Artyce Colen. Each artist was inspired by nature in the creation of their works. The thematic elements are blended together to form a "creative perception of the mind with the physical spaces in current or past natural surroundings."
Check out Unique Jewelry
Arteriors Dallas Design District Showroom at 1413 Dragon Street is hosting a Sip, Shop & See event from 2 to 6PM August 25. There will be light bites and cocktails to enjoy while visitors browse beautiful work form local jewelry designers Anukah Accessories and Jewels of Jaipur.
What are some other fun Design District activities to enjoy this August and September? Bowling at Bowlounge; walking, running or biking the Trinity Strand Trail with your dog; or taking a rooftop yoga class with Barre Code. If you're a law enforcement officer, make sure to stop by the Tailor Shop at 1523 Dragon Street between 10AM and 5PM any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for a complimentary bottled water or Gatorade and snack.
As you can see, the Dallas Design District has plenty to offer, regardless of the season. Our tenants also have a heart for giving and community, so please support our local businesses in their efforts to help others.
