Dallas, TX | Laura Rathe Fine Art announces Interference, a group show featuring new works by Paul Rousso and artist duo Stallman. LRFA will be hosting the opening reception on Saturday, August 24 th from 4:00-7:00pm at their Dallas Design District gallery.
Interference unites three artists with a affinity for pushing movement and color, disrupting the meaning of painting. Rousso and Stallman approach subject and technique with refreshing innovation, their stunning work leaping off the wall and capturing the mind.
Paul Rousso manipulates dimensionality through the transformation of beloved consumer goods, historical icons, and mainstream media on an exaggerated scale. Utilizing many complex techniques from welding, digital manipulation, and heat-infusion, Rousso’s larger-than-life monuments to pop-culture and Americana critique the human condition and invite reflection. In his non-objective works, Rousso captures graceful curves and folds, preserving an instance ofgossamer fluidity for eternity.
Artist duo Jason Hallman and Steven Stum, collectively known as Stallman, combine painting and sculpture into a new technique dubbed “Canvas on Edge.” Working together, Hallman and Stum’s separate strengths redefine the purpose of canvas in art by meticulously twisting and swirling canvas strips into kaleidoscopic mazes of color and movement. Each of Stallman’s dynamic compositions utilize gradient hues and light to create artwork that ripples and undulates as the viewer moves, breathing life into the hypnotic curves.
