Opening Reception for Convergence

Laura Rathe Fine Art announces Convergence, a dynamic group exhibition.
Location: Laura Rathe Fine Art Dallas

Dallas, TX | Laura Rathe Fine Art is pleased to announce Convergence, a group exhibition featuring new works by Matt Devine, Stallman, and Nick Veasey. The opening reception will take place on August 29, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Dallas Design District location.

Convergence brings together four artists whose work spans contemporary sculpture, sculpted canvas, and x-ray photography. While each employs a distinct medium and process, all transform familiar materials into compelling visual experiences grounded in dimension, spatial relationships, and the unseen. Together, their work converges to reveal unexpected connections between art, science, and design, inviting viewers to reconsider how they experience the world around them.

Forging steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze into refined sculptural forms, Matt Devine examines the balance between strength and delicacy, order and spontaneity. Inspired by both the natural and industrial worlds, his compositions mold rigid metal with a remarkable sense of fluidity and grace. Through a careful orchestration of mass, light, and negative space, Devine creates sculptures that invite contemplation while challenging expectations of weight and form.  His work investigates the relationship between material and environment, demonstrating how restraint, proportion, and spatial tension can give even the heaviest materials levity.

Pioneering a technique they call Canvas on Edge, Stallman Studio reimagines the traditional painted surface as a sculptural expression of color, movement, and form. The collaborative practice of Stephen Stum and Jason Hallman weaves hand-cut and painted strips of canvas into dimensional compositions that blur the line between painting and sculpture. Inspired by the rhythms of the natural world, their layered gradients and undulating surfaces evoke flowing water, shifting light, and organic forms, creating an experience of color, texture, and depth that evolves with every viewpoint.

Harnessing the power of radiographic imaging, Nick Veasey elevates x-ray technology into a medium for artistic discovery. His compositions uncover the hidden structures of everyday objects, exposing layers and internal forms invisible to the naked eye. By replacing opacity with transparency, Veasey prompts his audience to reexamine the familiar through a lens of curiosity and wonder. Bridging art and science, Veasey's work challenges conventional ideas of beauty, revealing the extraordinary within the ordinary. Through meticulous craftsmanship and technical precision, his x-ray images illuminate not only the anatomy of an object, but the elegance and complexity that have existed beneath its surface all along.

Convergence will be on view through September 26th, 2026.
