Art on View in the DDD this April

April showers bring May flowers—and some incredible art exhibitions, too! The Dallas Design District is the proud home of a variety of world-renowned art galleries, each with their own unique style. From contemporary Laura Rathe Fine Art to modern Patrick Jones Gallery to a space devoted entirely to photography (PDNB Gallery), there's something on view for everyone in the DDD.

Read on to learn more about some of our favorite Dallas Design District art galleries and their upcoming exhibitions in the month of April.

 

Since 2010, Markowicz Fine Art has showcased an array of international artists such as Andy Warhol and Carole Feuerman as well as emerging artists like Zareski and L'Atlas. Catch the gallery's monthly happy hour, Art After Hours, which features a curated wine bar and engaging community, every second Thursday. This month's happy hour doubles as an artist reception with Spanish contemporary painter, Eva Armisén, in attendance.

Artwork by Eva Armisén will be on display from April 13-May 9.

Craighead Green Gallery is a renowned contemporary art gallery in the Dallas Design District. It represents over 40 mid-career artists, showcasing contemporary paintings, archival pigment prints, and sculptures. The gallery also supports emerging artists with an annual exhibition and scholarship. As a long-standing member of the Dallas Art Dealers Association and a founding member of CADD, Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas, Craighead Green Gallery is a respected name in the art community.

A group exhibition, "Ray, Harris, Jessup," will be on display from April 1-May 6.

Laura Rathe Fine Art is a leading venue for contemporary art with three locations in Texas. It represents established and mid-career artists and participates in prominent art fairs. The gallery also provides personalized art advisory services and is an ideal venue for events, with a modern space in the Dallas Design District boasting panoramic views of the city skyline.

The "Skywriting" exhibition by Janna Watson will be on display from April 1-May 6.

Nuu Muse Fine Art Gallery is a short term exhibition gallery that exclusively features emerging and mid-career artists. They accept artists through invitation only, and encourage artists to engage with them on social media or attend their events to be considered. It is best to make an appointment through the website link below if you are intersted in visiting the gallery.

"Ceramic Expressions: The Art of Gail Nash Arnold" will be on display from March 25-April 10.

Patrick Jones Gallery specializes in contemporary and modern art, as well as significant 20th-century design. The gallery's extensive collection includes Blue Chip works and emerging artists' creations that cater to both seasoned and curious collectors. They specialize in abstract, surreal, street, graffiti, and pop styles from the modern to contemporary era. Private viewings are available by appointment.

The "Urban Routes" exhibition will be on display from March 25-April 10.

Founded in 2005, Holly Johnson Gallery represents contemporary artists from the US and abroad. With eight exhibitions per year, the gallery showcases one-person shows by mid-career and acclaimed artists. They aim to cultivate the careers of their artists while providing culturally significant experiences for guests. The gallery's artists include acclaimed names such as Terry Allen, Dornith Doherty, and Kim Cadmus Owens.

The "PAINTINGS" exhibition will be on display from February 18-April 27, and "STRATA" by James Lumsden will be on display from April 1-June 17.

Galleri Urbane was founded in 2000 in Silver City, New Mexico. Since then, it has represented over 20 emerging and mid-career artists from the US and abroad, advocating for their careers and promoting their innovative approaches to painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and conceptual art. The gallery hosts eight exhibitions each year, featuring solo and group shows that rotate every seven weeks.

Both the "Dimensional Iterations" exhibition by Gail Peter Borden and "vs" by Loring Taoka will be on display from April 1-May 6.

Cris Worley Fine Arts is a contemporary art gallery that is committed to promoting innovative works by artists, regardless of their career stages. With a dynamic approach to artistic growth, Cris Worley Fine Arts showcases compelling exhibitions and collaborates with public institutions, art organizations, and collectors worldwide.

Both "The Flesh of Trees" exhibition by Celia Eberle and "Standing Still in Fleeting Light" by Johnny Defeo will be on display from April 1-May 6.
