If you’re a longtime friend and follower of the DDD, then you know one of our favorite weeks of the year and one that we are honored to take part in is Texas Design Week Dallas. This year’s week-long celebration that will bring the design community together from across the nation is set to take place Monday, September 20 through Friday, September 24. Wondering what to expect? Over the course of the week, attendees will enjoy salon talks, book signings, product launches, and cocktail parties. Each of the 2021 events will showcase designs and appearances by nationally acclaimed designers and architects, such as Ken Fulk, Celerie Kemble, and Corey Damen Jenkins, to name a few. Trust us when we say that the array of festivities in the works for this year will more than make up for having to postpone TXDW 2020 due to COVID. Friendly reminder, Texas Design Week is a ticketed event, so make sure to secure yours while you still can. Tickets as well as the complete line-up of events and speakers can all be found on the official Texas Design Week website.

PaperCity Dallas Design Awards

Although the deadline to submit entries for the PaperCity Dallas Design Awards has passed, we'd be remiss to not mention this iconic annual event. This year, the award show will be the glamorous grand finale of Texas Design Week, taking place on Friday, September 24, at the Virgin Hotels Dallas Ballroom and will proudly honor Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas. Known for celebrating the best in design and architecture, the 2021 award categories include Residential Interior Design and Architectural Design, Commercial or Public Space Interior Design or Architectural Design, Residential or Commercial Landscape Design, and more. As usual, there will be notable judges at the helm of this year’s awards that follow in the prestigious footsteps of judges past, like David Kleinberg, Jay Jeffers, and Lee Ledbetter, to name a few. For more details on this year’s award show, visit the PaperCity Dallas website. And, if you can’t make the awards, catch up on the winning projects in the January 2022 issue of PaperCity Magazine and online at papercitymag.com.

Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas

We're beyond thrilled that the notable Kips Bay Decorator Show House is returning to Big-D for the second year in a row. Once again, the show house will call the historic neighborhood of Old Preston Hollow home, making it easily accessible as it’s just eight miles north of Downtown Dallas. What can you expect from the chosen abode? A glamorous Georgian-style estate that sits on close to 1.5 acres + boasts more than 11,000 square feet of living space, which will make social distancing easy to accommodate. And given its noteworthy interior amenities that include 2 full kitchens, multiple living spaces, a wine cellar, and a theater, it’s safe to say the chosen designers and architects have quite the canvas to make their marks on. Speaking of the talent, while last year’s show house honed in on local creatives, the designers and architects that will thoughtfully curate each room this year will represent a mix of local + national designers, such as A. Lantz Design, Acorn & Oak by Shelly Rosenberg, Alexa Hampton for Mark Hampton LLC, Burkle Creative, Caroline Gidiere Design LLC, and more. The 2021 Kips Bay Dallas Decorator Show House Dallas will officially open to the public for one month beginning on Friday, September 24. However, if you’d like to get a sneak peek, get in on the Preview Party action happening Thursday, September 23. Regardless of when you plan to attend, visit the Kips Bay Show House website to plan your visit and purchase your tickets.

Each of the above-mentioned events provides opportunities to enjoy design excellence, mingle with industry peers and thought-leaders, and of course, find endless inspiration and ideas on how to update a space with the latest + greatest in furnishings and decor. And, don’t think the fun stops in September! There are a plethora of more design events coming up in October + beyond, first up being the annual D Home Wine Walk & Talk, happening October 7 and 8. So, stay tuned to our social channels for the latest and greatest scoop on what’s happening in and around the DDD.
