Discover Your Design District

Your DDD Guide: Cocktails + More

It’s no secret to us Dallasites: The Big D is a foodie paradise. The Dallas Design District is one of the many reasons why, thanks in part to the innovative fine dining experiences to be enjoyed here. Along with world-class fare, the restaurants of the DDD serve up yummy signature cocktails and regular beer and wine specials. Whether you’re looking for the perfect vintage to pair with dinner, craft brews for your after-work destress sesh, or a good, old-fashioned nightcap, you can find it in the DDD. So grab a seat at the table (or bar) and relax with your new favorite adult beverage.

Signature Cocktails

Have you tried The Oilman at El Bolero yet? If not, you’ll want to rush out to try this gold-speckled black margarita served with Patron, lime agave, gold salt and rock candy.

For a taste of the Southeast Asian tropics, stop by PakPao and order their signature Chularita. The ingredient that makes this frozen margarita unique? Lemongrass-infused tequila. If you’re more of a traditionalist, you’ll find classic margs on the menu, too — and special flavors like prickly pear, stone fruit and Cointreau Noir.

Finally, don’t miss out on one of the many one-of-a at Oak. The Smoking Gun Old Fashioned is a mix of WhistlePig Rye, maple and applewood-smoked bitters, or there’s the Fiery Gimlet, whose heat is brought courtesy of two parts jalapeño-infused Zephyr gin.

Beer

Beer connoisseurs, you have your pick when you visit the DDD. Start at the Meddlesome Moth, home to 40 draft beers and 85 bottled varieties. And be sure to check out the specials on offer during their Social Hour, which happens Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Making a weekend of it? Stop by Dallas’ first craft brewery, Texas Ale Project, for a tour and a pint (or two). Research and development are big at the Texas Ale Project, and the proof is in their new R&D Series of limited release brews. Bonus: their facilities, including the patio, are family- and dog-friendly.

There’s no shortage of things to do when you join the Community Beer Co. community. From regular Taproom Debuts of new beers to Wednesday trivia nights to Yoga at the Brewery, Community is all about stretching the boundaries of what a brewery can be.

Wine

Some good times have to be uncorked. While it’s usually all coffee talk here on the blog when the subject is Ascension, we’d be remiss in not mentioning them here. With 50 percent off bottles every night after 4:30 p.m., no DDD wine walk is complete without a stop at Ascension.

Whatever your mood and however you define good taste, the DDD is a great place to enjoy a memorable night out. And that’s true whether that involves dinner and drinks or just cocktails and conversation. We’ll raise a toast to that!
