How to Beat the Summer Heat All Day in the DDD

Ahhh… summer in Dallas. Sweltering triple digit temps. Humidity ruining everyone’s hair.

And the heat's not ending anytime soon. Sure, you could sit at home all day in the cool cocoon of your air conditioning. But why not beat the heat and have a little fun with a full day at the DDD? Here's your itinerary for a chill summer day with us.

Breakfast and Coffee

Start your morning off right with the most important meal of the day (and the most important beverage of the day). Grab some breakfast tacos at the Taco Stop before the sun really starts to heat up. Then grab a cold brew or iced latte from Ascension — it'll give you just the right blend of caffeine and cold to kick you into high gear for a full day of fun.

Workouts and Pampering

Next, get that body pumped up and energized. Try out one of the cardio kickboxing classes at The Barre Code or take a class at Dallas Pilates. Of course, you can always stretch your way to health and wellness with one of the classes at BalancingEnergy Health & Yoga Center. Then head over to the Salons of Dallas at Hi Line for a relaxing massage and a blowout.

Leisurely Lunching

After a good workout and a rub down, you’ll be ready for lunch. You always need to refuel before a doing little shopping, right? Grab a slice and a cold beer at Pie Tap Pizza Workshop + Bar. There’s also Wheelhouse if you’re looking for some gastropub fare — a vegetable crudite plate and brisket tacos should keep you going until dinner. And if you’re a late riser, Mama’s Daughter’s Diner serves breakfast all day.

Retail Relaxation

And now for the shopping. Grab a stunning new piece of artwork for your home at American Fine Art and Frame Company. If you’re in the market for new appliances, the Miele showroom is a must-see. For inspiration for your next home redesign, stop by McGannon Showrooms. Find your next favorite piece of jewelry at f. is for frank. And don’t forget to check out Lucchese Bootmaker for a pair of high-quality handmade Western boots.

The Happiest of Hours

Start winding down with a relaxing happy hour at any one of the DDD’s breweries and bars. During the week, the Meddlesome Moth has specials on wine and select beers from 4 to 7 pm. Or swing by the new Foxyco from 4 to 6 pm Tuesday through Friday and try one of their signature cocktails.

Time for Dinner

Once you’re ready to eat, you've got your choice of spots to enjoy. Enjoy Italian at Sassetta, Thai at Pakpao or Mexican at El Bolero. If you’re in the mood for something a bit fancier, make reservations at Oak for a fine dining experience.

As wonderful as it is sitting directly under the A/C vent at home, there are plenty of ways to stay cool and have fun all summer at the Dallas Design District. So grab your besties and head over the DDD — we'll see you there!
