Your DDD Guide: Date Night

Looking to wow your honey on your next night out together? Make the Dallas Design District your date-night destination. The DDD is more than just a place for designers to find the perfect piece or get inspired for their next great creation. We've also got some of the best restaurants and things to do in Dallas, so it's pretty much guaranteed that your next DDD date night will be one to remember. Here's how to plan your night out in the Design District.

Things to do

Movies are great. But after weeks of dinner-and-a-movie date nights, you might be itching to try something different. Luckily for you, the DDD’s got your back.

Maybe a night of beer and bowling on the vintage lanes at Bowlounge is just what you and your sweetheart need. If bowling’s not your thing, take in a beautiful sunset by the Trinity River and stroll hand in hand on the Continental Bridge. If you’re looking for something more active or hands-on, there are cooking classes at The Cookery, glass-blowing classes at Dallas Glass Art and plenty of workout options at spots like GRIT FitnessThe Barre Code and pilates in mind.

Things to see

For you existing and aspiring art lovers, what better way to infuse your date night with some culture than visiting one of the DDD’s many art galleries and museums? PDNB (Photographs Do Not Bend) Gallery shows photo-based art from artists all over the world. Discover new artists at Circuit12 Contemporary, where you’ll find a unique collection of contemporary and post-digital work. Stop by Site131 to see fresh art from emerging Texas artists presented side-by-side with complementary work from artists in America and abroad. And for something a little different, check out Haas Moto Museum to see a stunning selection of motorcycles and sculpture.

Things to buy

If your love language is gifts, why not surprise your dear one with a surprise shopping trip? A new outfit from Buddy Love, a new-to-y’all antique from White Elephant Antiques Warehouse or a handcrafted piece of jewelry from f. is for frank will help you express the feelings you just can't put into words.

Things to eat

Just because you’re not doing dinner and a movie doesn’t mean you need to skip dinner. There’s something for any palate in the DDD. Mexican from El Bolero, Thai from Pak Pao and Italian from Sassetta can satisfy almost any craving. Of course, if you’re in a romantic kind of mood, reserve a table at Oak or FT33. For a more laid-back dinner date, check out Pie Tap Pizza Workshop + Bar or Wheelhouse.

So if you're looking for something a little off the beaten dinner-and-a-movie date night path, the Dallas Design District is here for you and yours. And don’t forget to check out the Events calendar to stay up to date on our special art showings, parties, pop-ups and more!
