Your DDD Guide: Brunch

Love it or hate it, brunch is here to stay. In fact, you might even say that brunch is the most important meal of the weekend. In contrast to rushing through breakfast to get to work or eating a sad salad at your desk, weekend brunch is a time to linger over long conversations and savor every single indulgent bite. (And maybe to enjoy a mimosa or two.)

Is there a better way to enjoy such a leisurely dining experience than in the Dallas Design District? We'd argue not. Whatever brunch mood you're in this weekend, we've got a spot to satisfy your cravings. Take a look at a few of our favorite brunch menus you'll find in the DDD.

El Bolero

We Dallasites love our Tex-Mex for breakfast, lunch and dinner (and second breakfast and snacks...) That's why El Bolero's special brunch menu is served from 10 AM to 3 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. With items like Huevos Benedictine Con Jalapeno Crab Cakes, Gorditas de Pollo, Pan De Pulque French Toast, Tacos Con Chorizo Y Queso (hello breakfast tacos!) and the Garden Frittata, there's something for any palate. Throw in a bloody mary bar and guava mimosas, and El Bolero is a must-brunch spot for anyone.

Ascension

More than just a coffee shop, Ascension offers a brunch menu that's not to be missed. Make sure to grab your favorite morning beverage and one of the brunch staples available Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 3 PM. Items like the Avocado Toast, Croque Madame, Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon Hash or Chia Seed Pudding make for the perfect pick-me-up after a late night out and on-the-go fuel for a day of shopping in the DDD.

Meddlesome Moth

What says brunch better than a beautiful patio day spent grubbing down on a French Toast Sandwich or a Badass Bacon Waffle at Meddlesome Moth? Wash all that deliciousness down with one of their 40 beers on tap, their house-made sangria or a Wake Up Call cocktail made with Hendricks gin, St. Germain, cucumber and champagne.

Pakpao

For the seasoned weekend bruncher, steer away from the traditional and into a Thai-inspired brunch experience at Pakpao. While your favorite Thai menu items are all there, the br(eakfast) + (l)unch plates are sure to wow. Thai donuts for the table make the perfect starter. Then you can’t go wrong with Coconut Pancakes, Thai Tea French Toast or Crispy Thai Chicken Benedict. And be sure to try a lemongrass bloody mary or a lychee bellini.

Wheelhouse

Grab brunch at Wheelhouse, a modern take on the gastropub, for an all-American breakfast of two eggs, bacon and sausage, breakfast potatoes and wheat toast. There are also brisket breakfast tacos and a gooey pecan cinnamon roll with honey butter icing to enjoy while taking in the 18-foot-tall sculpture at the entrance.

Pie Tap Pizza Workshop + Bar

Pizza for breakfast. Pizza for lunch. Pizza for a midnight snack. There’s not a time of the day when pizza isn’t appropriate, and a Pie Tap pizza pie brunch is no exception. Sure, you could go for the biscuits with sausage and gravy or the french toast, but their brunch pies are to die for. Who could ever choose between the eggs florentine pie, the mushroom and egg pie, the sausage and egg pie or the smoked salmon pie? Once you've made your decision, wake up with an Irish Nitro: Jameson Irish whiskey, Ascension Nitro coffee, egg white, simple syrup and cream.

There’s no limit to your brunching experiences in the Dallas Design District. Whether you're here just for the eats or to kick off a day of shopping, you’ll get your fill in the DDD.
