Summer vacation doesn’t have to mean loading the kids up in the van and driving to a beach or a theme park. Sometimes the best vacations are the ones you take in your own city.
If you can’t (or don’t want to) take a big summer vacation this year, plan a little staycation in the Dallas Design District instead.
Hotels
Sure, taking a whole week off is nice, but sometimes it’s just not in the cards. Instead, think about booking a weekend at a hotel in the Dallas Design District. Spending a couple of nights at the Hilton Anatole with a visit to the V Spa for a massage and a facial before heading out to one of the many nearby restaurants and bars will leave you relaxed and ready for the rest of the summer.
Dinner and Drinks
There’s no need to book an entire weekend to enjoy a staycation in the Design District. With the many restaurants and bars to enjoy, you can staycation it up every night of the week. Take a brewery tour and test your useless knowledge at trivia nights at the Community Beer Company. Indulge your inner foodie with dinner the Oak Restaurant and drinks at The Meddlesome Moth. Make margarita toasts and tear up some tacos at El Bolero.
Activities
If your vacation to-do list is full of sightseeing adventures, the DDD’s got you covered there, too. For the active types, hike or bike 2.5 miles at the Trinity Strand Trail. If you got kids, play bocce ball and go on a science safari at the Continental Bridge. And there’s no need to travel overseas to take in world-class art. Check out the Dallas Contemporary for local and international artist exhibits.
Shopping
No staycation is complete without a trip to the shops, and naturally, the DDD's got those in spades. Ready to redecorate your home? We've got inspiring showrooms to check out, like Adriana Hoyos and Holly Hunt. And if you need one-of-a-kind accessories, Again & Again has a warehouse full of unique and vintage pieces you won’t find anywhere else. The best part? You don't need to fit your new finds in your suitcase!
Between all the shopping, art, food and fun, the Dallas Design District has something for everyone. If you can’t get away this summer, plan your own special getaway at the DDD.
