Pilates comes to the Design District

If you've never been to a pilates class you've been making a huge mistake. The methodical, resistance based workout stretches and strengthens, while putting you intimately in touch with each joint and muscle in your body. It's also great cross-training for those of us typically involved in more high-intensity, high-impact workouts. Anyways, all of this to say, I too have been making a huge mistake, because I just took my first pilates class and it took a studio opening in the neighborhood to make it happen.

Pilates in Mind opened just a few months ago over on the seriously up and coming Levee Street on the far West side of the neighborhood, right next door to Trenz Gallery at 1315 Levee. Instructors Beth Ruder and Morgan Palmer have combined forces to create a combination barre and pilates studio in a neighborhood which, while it has gained quite a few fitness options in recent months, was still missing a pilates studio. According to Beth and Morgan, pilates and barre are for everyone and both have experience working with people of all fitness and health levels. If you're a first-timer they recommend a private lesson because although it will become second nature, getting familiar with the pilates equipment takes a little bit of practice. Their studio is pristine and intimate, classes will always be smaller than what you might find at larger studios, making for a peaceful experience with plenty of one-on-one time with the instructors.

Recognizing the variety of fitness options consumers have to choose from, Pilates in Mind, like a number of fitness studios I've happened upon recently, offers a number of pricing and membership options. You can pay by class or you can open a checking account of sorts; each time you take a class or purchase a product your account is simply debited for that amount and once you're running low, it's easy to just load the account with more money. With classes every day of the week at various times, whether you're interested in pilates, barre or both, you'll always have plenty of choices. Stop by to check out the new spot today!
