Discover Your Design District

More Art in the Design District this September

Sun to Moon Gallery The show technically opened last weekend but this Saturday, September 13, head to Sun to Moon Gallery for an opening reception featuring the work of six photographers starring Caddo Lake, a beloved lake frequented by Dallasites. Sales from some of the work benefit the Caddo Lake Institute which is a non-profit scientific and educational organization whose mission is to protect the integrity of the lake and its wetlands. From what I've seen the photographs are gorgeous.

Cydonia Cydonia is a brand new Design District gallery located at 167 Payne Street and their inaugural show opens Friday, September 12. The show, which the gallery is calling "Ex-Y: Representations of Contemporary Masculinity," features the work of nine artists from around the world. Taking the dominant feminist narrative of the last 30 years as its jumping off point, the artists in the show explore "barriers of manhood," loneliness, male humor and how our definition of what it is to be a man has evolved over time. Cydonia will host an opening reception on the 12th from 6-9pm with a performance by Jan Mioduszewski taking place at 7pm. Look out for more from this exciting new space in the future. Gallery@1300 Held to coincide with the Dragon Street Art Walk taking place Saturday the 13th, Gallery@1300 is hosting an opening reception for "You are Here," an exhibition of new painting by local artist Peggy Epner. Epner's media is diverse but the work on display in the show will all explore "our place in the universe." Opening reception will take place from 5-8pm and the show will run through October 27. Gallery@1300 is located at 1300 Dragon Street.
