The art world is famous for slowing down during the summer, making it the perfect time for a day-long art gallery party. Enter Dallas Gallery Day.
For the third year in a row Design District art gallery owners have banded together in the dead of summer to get some foot traffic in the neighborhood and into their galleries. The event this year happens Saturday, July 12. Here's what to expect. Galleries will start opening their doors around 12:00 and most will stay open until that evening around 8:00 PM. The first 25 people in the door at participating galleries will receive a gift bag which includes some great stuff including the super cool, official Design District Gallery Day T-shirt. Ben E. Keith will also be providing some cold beverages at various locations. Best of all? Art. Participating galleries include Alan Simmons Art + Design, Circuit 12 Contemporary, Conduit Gallery, Craighead Green Gallery, Cris Worley Fine Arts, Dallas Contemporary, Galleri Urbane, Holly Johnson Gallery, Laura Rathe Fine Art, Mary Tomás Gallery, PDNB Gallery, Red Arrow Contemporary, Samuel Lynne Galleries, Christopher Martin Gallery and Zhulong Gallery. Whether you're a regular gallery-goer or a first-timer, head out to the Design District this Saturday and see some art.
