There's always something going on in the Design District and here's a round-up of the latest news at some of the neighborhood's most popular restaurants.
Oak
A few weeks ago we sent out a note announcing that Oak is now open for Friday lunches. From 11am - 2pm every Friday you now have yet another lunch option in the neighborhood. Oh, but here's the real news, they're calling their lunch the Three Martini Lunch. Here's the scoop. "Choose one (or several!) of any three handcrafted martinis to celebrate the end of the work week. The martinis will be mixed and served on a cosmopolitan cart, designed locally by Morgan Allen Designs. Three options of martini will be available for $8, as well as a nonalcoholic choice (also $8)." Um, count me in. The super posh eatery is also now offering half priced bottles of wine every Monday evening, which, as you know, is a pretty killer deal.
PakPao
You may or may not have heard that PakPao has a new chef. Well they do. And he is awesome. Chef Jet Tila joined the PakPao team as Executive Chef straight from Las Vegas, but not before you saw him on a number of cooking and reality shows. Don't worry PakPao fans, the old menu is staying in place (more green salmon curry anyone?), Tila's team has just added a few more delicious menu options including Pak Kee Mow (drunken noodles), Khao Soi (chang mai curry noodles), and Neau Nam Tok, a delicious steak salad. Oh and yes, that is fried rice in a pineapple that you see below and yes, it is delicious.
In other PakPao news, you can also order Thai food online and either pick it up at the restaurant or have it brought right to your door. Getting Thai food in the Design District has never been this easy. Check the website for specials too, because there's usually a way to score a deal on something or other. Oh and they have a great happy hour five days a week (Monday - Friday in case you couldn't infer). Ok, I'm done.
Meddlesome Moth
The Moth is always awesome but this Father's Day the Moth is going to be even more awesome because their special Father's Day brunch menu is going to be hard to resist. Coffee-rubbed rotisserie ribeye? I don't even know what that means but I want it. May I recommend making reservations ASAP?
