Samuel Lynne Galleries invites you to view acclaimed, art-themed films in its cozy theater with wine, popcorn and fellow friends of the art world! This summer’s film series will be hosted the second Thursdays of the month in June, July and August. Gallery doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the movies will begin at 6:30 p.m.
August’s movie selection, “Girl With A Pearl Earring,” was adapted from a work of fiction by author Tracy Chevalier. The film tells a story about the events surrounding the creation of the painting “Girl With A Pearl Earring” by 17th century Dutch master Johannes Vermeer. Little is known about the girl in the painting; it is speculated that she was a maid who lived in the house of the painter along with his family and other servants, though there is no historical evidence. This masterful film attempts to recreate the mysterious girl’s life.
