How long have you been a part of the Dallas Design District?
DEDON had been represented in the Dallas design community for many years before we opened our showroom. In 2016 when we joined the Dallas Design District, this marked DEDON’s first Texas location and a permanent home where clients and design lovers alike can explore our collections.
Tell us about the background of DEDON and how the Dallas Design District Showroom came to be.
Our story started with a fiber developed by a family business. What followed was a revolution of the outdoor living lifestyle and the development of the most iconic pieces in the industry. As we grew and expanded all over the world, our journey led us to the thriving Dallas Design District, where we continue to share our passion, innovation, and artistry with interior designers and architects.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the Dallas Design District neighborhood?
We love the symbiotic relationships with the collection of luxury trade showrooms that partner with each other to provide the best to the design industry in Dallas.
What can visitors expect when they visit the DEDON Dallas Design District showroom?
Our showroom in Dallas aims to blend the boundaries of indoor and outdoor living. As you walk through, you can explore the variety of textures, styles, and colors that will meet the needs of your space or project. Enjoy swinging on our KIDA hanging lounge chair or lounge on our back patio in the LEAF beach chair - but most importantly, have fun!
Can you share the design philosophy or style that your showroom is known for?
DEDON is true barefoot luxury. We aim to create a new way of living outdoors through our collections, which present a harmonious blend of style and timeless elegance.
In your opinion, what sets DEDON apart from other local and national showrooms?
Our DEDON Fiber sparked a revolution in outdoor living that continues to this day. Delightful to touch, and durable against the elements, DEDON Fiber embodies our unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in outdoor furniture. The luxurious textile offers unrivaled advantages including its high UV resistance and properties that allow it to stand the test of time against pool and seawater, as well as extreme hot and cold temperatures. In 10 years, after living through the Dallas heat, your DEDON furniture will be as colorful as the day you took it home!
If you had to describe the DEDON style in one word, what would it be and why?
From the beginning, DEDON has been innovative, bringing the first-of-its-kind synthetic woven fiber to the outdoor market. Produced at our state-of-the-art facility in Germany, DEDON Fiber takes numerous profiles and textures, each innovated by our fiber specialists and designers. Their creations are then woven by hand into our award-winning collections.
Are there any upcoming trends in interior design that you're particularly excited about?
We believe when you invest in the DEDON brand, you’re making a timeless purchase that will outlast the trends. Our portfolio encompasses a variety of innovative and iconic designs for our clients to select the piece that best matches their personal style. In recent years we have seen an increased interest in color, whether that be in fabric or frames. DEDON took this feedback and was proud to launch this year the Mystique Fiber, redefining what is possible in the realm of fiber. The material possesses a 3D effect, created using a new technique that wraps two boldly contrasting colors together, resulting in a variegated, dynamic surface that shifts depending on the viewing angle.
What advice would you give to someone trying to find their own unique design style?
Design is a very personal choice, one you should make based on your personal style to represent your creativity. Together with our clients, we shape what outdoor living means and offer products to fit your individual needs.
