DDD's Patio Hopping Guide

Winter is over (though maybe it never really came) and summer approaches. What does this mean for us Dallasites? Patio weather! If you want to get out and enjoy the warm spring days before hot and humid rolls into town, head over to the Dallas Design District for some patio hopping.

Morning Perk Up

Start the day with a coffee and avocado toast on the patio at Ascension. Forget the office! It’s too nice to be cooped up inside. Grab your laptop and your fur baby to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi and water for Fluffy. And if your productivity is off the charts, you can stay for lunch, dinner, and even an after-dinner glass of wine.

Midday Break

Keep your day-away-from-the-office going with a working lunch meeting. Grab some Mexican-style street tacos at Taco Stop. (Don’t worry. Fluffy is welcome here, too.) Or if you’re in the mood for something meatier, head over to the Rodeo Goat patio for one of their award-winning burgers. With a colorful mural on one side and a view of the Trinity Strand Trail on the other, you may want to admire the view all day long.

End of the Day

Next up on our patio tour of the DDD… dinner! Unwind after a hard day with a frosty margarita and ceviche at El Bolero. Their colorful patio and portraits of Freda and Diego make a feast for the eyes, too. Of course, the beautiful and elevated patio at Oak is another great location. Try one of their specialty craft cocktails and the grilled-to-perfection filet while watching the bright lights come on over the downtown skyline.

A Nightcap

Top off your patio tour by kicking back with a locally brewed beer at the Texas Ale Project, the first craft brewery in Dallas to be built from the ground up. Or head on over to the Meddlesome Moth’s patio to sample one of the over 40 beers they have on draught. They have an additional 85 bottled varieties as well, in addition to wine, cocktails and superb late-night nosh. And the patio is ideal for intimate, late-night conversation. In surroundings this relaxing and flush with greenery, you’ll almost forget you’re in the middle of the city.

Patio dining and drinks will make anyone’s day special. Whether you’re taking the office with you, or you’re taking the day off, there’s plenty of patio love to keep you warm at the Dallas Design District.
