From SMU's music department, SYZYGY will play its first concert beyond the SMU campus at SITE131’s Design District location

A fresh community-minded endeavor by Dallas’ SITE131 contemporary arts venue as it welcomes SYZYGY, the inventive new music group from SMU. SYZYGY will play its first concert beyond the SMU campus at SITE131’s Design District location.
SYZYGY, formed at SMU five years ago, is now under direction of Lane Harder. Dr. Harder guides the talented and spirited group to perform the music of living composers, creating high-quality encounters with new music.
SITE131 director/co-founder Joan Davidow, a supporter of SMU’s student music program, hails the union of contemporary art and music: “New music is about new ideas. It’s imperative we support new musical talent just as we present new visual ideas.” SITE131’s current exhibition, FOUND, of artworks created with discarded materials, will form the visual backdrop to the student’s music.
