Gallerie Noir explores the Romance of Art and Words

Nothing exists in a vacuum. It’s one of the core principles of our existence and nowhere is it more true than with art. Whether you’re making a connection between different artistic styles or different forms of art or between art and life, everything seems to feed off of everything else. The mental and emotional reaction and connection we have to art  has always fascinated me, and that’s why tomorrow night’s presentation at Design District newcomer Gallerie Noir sounds especially intriguing.

Tomorrow, Thursday, January 31, the gallery will host Stevie Tate for a special filming and presentation they’re calling “The Romance of Art and Words.”

Tate is a Dallas-based abstract artist who very purposefully and passionately attempts to illustrate the connections between the emotions and thoughts he feels to the words he writes and the artwork he creates. Just like books, canvasses tell a story about the artist or what the artist wants to communicate, according to Tate.

The 15 to 30 minute presentation Thursday night will be an attempt to explicate this simple but not often discussed notion of the power of art to convey feelings just as words and interactions.

The presentation will be accompanied by an exhibit of some of Tate’s beautiful abstract work at Gallerie Noir, and, for those who really want to engage, the Empowerment for Destiny team will be on hand for dream interpretations.

The presentation will begin promptly at 7 p.m., and, since it is accompanied by filming, I recommend arriving on time.

If you haven’t had the chance to check out one of the neighborhood’s newest residents this is the perfect chance to do so while listening to a passionate artist convey the importance of connections and the power of art and language.
