Yesterday marked the final Presidential debate and also the beginning of early voting in Dallas County. With over 1,200 apartments now open or under construction in the Dallas Design District, our little neighborhood now has a considerable amount of voters and I’ve gotten several requests to share info on when and where Design District citizens can go to cast their ballots!
For me, early voting is the way to go. I prefer to beat the long lines that are inevitable on election day and prefer to have my choice of voting locations. (Early voters can choose from any location in Dallas County. If you vote on election day, you must vote at your designated precinct location.)
Dallas County’s new election website www.dallascountyvotes.org has a comprehensive list of early voting locations. (I love the new site design. It’s so much easier to navigate than the old site and much prettier!) Early voting locations are open according to the following schedule:
|October 22, 2012 – October 26, 2012||Monday through Friday||8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M|
|October 27, 2012||Saturday||7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.|
|October 28, 2012||Sunday||1:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.|
|October 29, 2012 – November 2, 2012||Monday through Friday||7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.|
According to this map, the early voting locations closest to the Design District are Grauwyler Park Recreation Center on Harry Hines, Dallas County Records Department located downtown, and City Hall, also downtown.
I’ll probably head down to the Records Building. It’s easy to park there, (get parking info here) and I’ve never faced a long line at that location.
For those who are still undecided, too busy to make it to the polls in the next two weeks, or simply enjoy the thrill of voting on election day, visit the Election Day Voting page to look up your precinct. Election day this year will be on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 and polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you live in any of the Design District apartment complexes, your precinct is 4033. Your election day voting location is:
George W. Carver Learning Center (map)
Dallas, TX 75212
The website says that polling locations are subject to change. I don’t want to give you bad info, so please check the website to make sure you’re headed to the right place!
Now it’s up to you folks; go forth and make your voice heard! God bless America and the Dallas Design District!
